1 Comments | Posted December 30, 2008 | 09:47 AM (EST)

Here in the United States, we are watching our economy unravel, but no matter the incompetency of the current administration, or the questionable policies of the incoming one, there is no chance that in our lifetime we will see the headline, "175 Million Americans Face Starvation."

Right now, in...

The United States of America has a document called the Constitution. It is meant to be one of the key governing documents of our country. We can forgive it for hiding for its own safety over the last eight years, but rumor has it that it is planning on making...

The New York Times Gets It Right And Wrong On Veterans.

6 Comments | Posted December 19, 2008 | 09:46 AM (EST)

In today's New York Times, an editorial hits one of my pet issues and peeves: how collectively as a country and a society, we let down our veterans, every single day.

We insist on their sacrificed, and praise their service, so don't equal their service with funding, support and...

The Darwin Depression: Time To Say Goodbye To How It Should Have Never Been.

At a time of glad tidings and cheer, it has hard to be very optimistic about what we face as a country. Americans, credit-card alcoholics at an all-you-can-charge buffet, have over-indulged to the point of self-destruction; businesses life-supported by cheap credit and currently the US Government, the taxpayer, well you,...

Follow The Money -- Capitalism Puts The Final Nail In Legacy Politics

2 Comments | Posted December 3, 2008 | 10:09 AM (EST)

Money talks. And yesterday it screamed that legacy media, and the legacy politics that goes hand in hand with them, is in its death throes.

The gap between the potent future of new media and the dinosaur that is legacy media first became a chasm and is now the...

Over 4,000 People Will Die Of AIDS Today In Africa. (Just Like Every Other Day)

7 Comments | Posted December 1, 2008 | 07:55 AM (EST)

Oh, and 2,000 children, children will be infected with HIV.

How's your day going?

Here, we are recognizing World AIDS Day, but in Africa, ground zero for AIDS, on the ground in Rwanda, calendars are pretty much useless, today is another day to survive, like so many other days.

Damn: What I Wish I Had Said On MSNBC

Last week, I was on MSNBC discussing the 'lefty' blogosphere's angry reaction to the Lieberman debacle. To MSNBC's credit, I wasn't the only blogger they had on to review this issue, Jane Hamsher and Ari Melber also made appearances (you can see all three of us at the bottom of...

What's Up With NewsLadder: Two Sides Of Henry Waxman

Posted November 21, 2008 | 01:37 PM (EST)

As many of you know, the primary NewsLadder site has more than 20 subladders that feed into it and today, like I do every Friday, when I went by to see the top stories, it was funny to see literally two sides of the same story.
Henry...

The Change To Competency

14 Comments | Posted November 20, 2008 | 09:22 AM (EST)

Change clearly is in the eyes of the beholder. Some viewed President-elect Obama's mandate for change to be a mandate for reconciliation and bipartisanship, or a change from politics as usual in Washington, DC.

I view the mandate for change in much simpler terms, it was a mandate for change...

After the MySpace Election, the MySpace Cabinet Selection Process

3 Comments | Posted November 5, 2008 | 11:10 AM (EST)

Think about this a second.

In 1992, President-Elect Bill Clinton, our party's last President-Elect, set about the process of picking a cabinet and, to be honest, he made some great choices. However, it's hard to imagine, but in 1992, no one was blogging about their favorites, no one was watching...
