I'm saddened to say that chubby puppies are no longer alone when it comes to the scourge of animal kingdom obesity.

The blend of shock, incredulity, and stomach cramps I felt when I watched the first 30 seconds of the Barney Christmas video I will not soon forget.
Most animal lovers would agree they'd prefer that exotic animals live in the wild than in captivity. But with our planet increasingly in peril, how many truly wild places remain?
Bob Barker appeared before the L.A. City Council, invoking the name of his best-known gig when he said of the LA Zoo elephant habitat's $42 million cost: "The price is not right."
We've heard many stories of dogs protecting children or saving a family member from some sort of danger. But how do we explain the dog's motivation to do so?
Being green really is about helping nature, and not just about ourselves, so how pretty we think certain animals are shouldn't matter. Cuteness shouldn't factor into life and death decisions.
Thank goodness we live in a country where most of us can celebrate and even spoil our dogs. In Vietnam they munch on Minnies, Totos, Lassies, and anything that moves or breathes or walks and has a tail or fur.

Judith
