How does it look now that Reid is manipulating Senate procedure to exclude Burris, but simply shrugged his shoulders over Samuel Alito, warrantless wiretapping and the Military Commissions Act?
Lincoln Mitchell, 01.04.2009
It is worth trying to determine precisely what Bush means when he asks us to take a more historical perspective on his presidency.

Although U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey repeatedly sought protection for Connell and his wife, it went unheeded.

Whatever their vocation, grownups do not devour books as if they were hot dogs in a speed-eating contest.

Imagine the triumphant procession: Barack at the head; after him the hunters leading the wolf; and winding up the procession, grandfather and the cat.

Mike Connell, Karl Rove's IT guru -- who was compelled six weeks ago to testify in an Ohio vote-tampering case -- was killed late Friday night when his plane crashed into the garage of an empty house.

How can I argue, as I now do, that there is actually a war being ramped up against US citizens and our democracy and that Sarah Palin is the figurehead and muse for that war?

He is the very epitome of a So What President. So what if the Katrina victims rot? So what if the world hates us? So what if our actions resonate everywhere with dire, catastrophic consequences?
Lisa Derrick, 12.21.2008
Mike Connell, the GOP's go-to computer guy who died in a solo plane crash late Friday night had had allegedly been threatened with federal prosecution by Karl Rove. Details are emerging.
Jacob Heilbrunn, 12.30.2008
Is Rove fibbing when he reports that Bush plowed through some 95 books last year? I think not.

Did a Fox news executive decide to go after Congressman Frank because O'Reilly was embarrassed in front of 800,000 people who caught the meltdown on YouTube?

Age has finally become an issue for John McCain. But the problem isn't the candidate's 72 years; it's the antediluvian approach of his campaign.
Paul Abrams, 12.14.2008
Karl Rove understands better than anyone that George Bush needs as much wiggle room as possible to provide the pardons he and scores of his rogue colleagues expect.
Arianna Huffington, 05.05.2008
At a dinner party in Los Angeles not long after the 2000 election, John McCain admitted to me that he hadn't voted for George Bush.

It's time for someone to grab Ron Paul's ideas, grab the organizational skill of herding a bunch of individualists and grab control of the damn Republican party right now.

W -- hueh, what is it good for -- absolutely nothing. Say it again.
Amen, Bob!
And on your note, *I'm* thinking about Bush's reply about where he was on 9/11 when the country was left to its own devices for hours upon hours during the worst attack on our soil we'd ever seen. His response, "I was mostly trying to stay out of harm's way."
Heroic? Hell, no.
I'm also thinking about his empty photo-op on the rubble of the World Trade Center, the now-infamous "bullhorn" moment that was as empty as my wallet, day after Christmas. If memory serves me correctly, I believe it took Bush two weeks or so after 9/11 to make his way to New York, and when he got here, he was useless. Actually worse than useless, shortly after his visit, the City of New York received word that Bush was slashing funding to New York and there were to be several firehouse closings. One of the first to go was a beloved one in Harlem.
Heroic, my patooty.
Bush owes the American people an apology. I for one shall never forget the ruin he brought to this, my country, a devastation that may well last until my grandchildren's children are, hopefully, looking at retirement. I shall certainly to what I can to make certain the truth of his obscene failure is known for generations.
Wow! Excellent post!
