Doing the Right Thing in Somalia
An international stabilization force may well be what is needed in Somalia, but the tough groundwork will have to be laid first. And for this, the Somali people must be on board.

Hopefully, with the arrival of the Obama administration, Steven Mosher's ability to force his extremist views on the rest of the world will soon be over.
We at the Population Research Institute stand by our research and our findings. And we remain firmly convinced that the UN Population Fund serves no useful purpose, and should be abolished.
Sudan's president has given the world loud and clear warning signs of his intent to commit more mass atrocities. This situation calls out for stepped up diplomacy and multilateral cooperation.
President-elect Barack Obama's nomination of Susan Rice to be U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations adds an intriguing dimension to his Administration...
While the threat of rockets launched from Gaza can seem menacing, or even "terrorizing," it is incomparable to the terror that millions of Palestinians endure on a daily basis.
Like the boy who cried wolf, Resolution 250 has stripped the UN of any credibility where Israel is involved.
Let Richard Falk spew his hate-speech on the Internet or other private soapboxes, but do not let his bigotry receive the imprimatur and funding of the United Nations.
You'd think the U.S. would have no trouble putting its John Hancock on something that would mock the backward nature of those "funny" little nations that aren't as forward thinking as we are. Problem is, we'd be mocking ourselves.
The sad fact is that the most significant Israeli-Palestinian legacy of the Bush administration is the coming to power of Hamas.
There are only two paths ahead, one for Hamas and one for the Israelis, that each must take in order to solve this conflict once and for all.
For Bhutto's many flaws, she was enormously brave. You cannot for a moment imagine that she did not know she had a target almost tattooed over her heart.
If Ms. Roosevelt was around today... would she have used the 60th anniversary of the UDHR the way gay activists have; and would she have endorsed a national boycott in solidarity with them?
The UN Secretary General turned down a request by over 100 former world leaders to visit Burma to petition the military regime to release all political prisoners. I have a friend in jail in Burma for 142 years.
The people in eastern Congo are tired; we have been running for more than a decade now. We need to sit down, live in peace and raise our children.
Trying to make death by overwork acceptable to any society, because survivors are able to get some monetary benefit is ridiculous, repulsive and outrageous.

The kill ratio is 300 Palestinians to 1 Israeli. The Israeli human rights organization B"Tselem, reports that the primitive rockets from Gaza, have taken thirteen Israeli lives in the past four years, while Israeli forces have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in the occupied territories in the past two years alone, not counting Gaza
What if this was happening to the jews? The reaction would be spectacular and filled with claims of persecution and victim rhetoric.
Global propaganda outlets are tirelessly covering-up Israel"s war crimes and spreading Israeli propaganda. According to Western media, Israel is a "civilised" and "democratic" nation, never initiates terrorist attacks or involved in daily acts of terrorism. Israel simply responds and retaliates. Israel responds to Palestinian throwing stones and retaliates against Palestinian rockets.
Israeli soldiers are "forced" to kill Palestinian children and pregnant women, and demolish Palestinian houses. Israeli soldiers are not responsible because they are facing a "stronger enemy". BS. The fact that these crimes are acts of terrorism against defenseless people doesn"t seem to interest Western media.
The fact that Israel is a racist apartheid state aimed at becoming a homogenous "Jewish state" at the expense of the indigenous Palestinian people is deliberately ignored by Western media. By contrast, the Palestinians are portrayed as "militants" - regardless of age -, "seeking revenge" and trying to "destroy" a "peace-loving Israel".
Good news? There will be when Israel and USi representatives recognize a two-state solution, a separation between their country and this one, the United States.
From a simple American nurse who lived and worked in the West Bank, Thanks. Please keep talking and spreading whatever truth you can and ignore the BS that others state in comments. Cry for the People of Palestine
Thanks for your opinion Mr. Hamas. Last time there was a war against Israel there were 150 million Arabs against 7 million Israelis. And you guys lost. Walk it off.
It seemed somebody was complaining about a blockade back then.
Nothing to brag about mate. You mean that pre-preemptive war you waged to steal Arab land and for which you must return all which you thought you had gained and for which you are still drowning in Palestinian blood to hang on to. You'll only be able to walk it off if Hamas lets you.
