Who's the Progressive VP Choice? 4 Possible Picks
The choice needs to be someone who [a] wins a state or two that Obama might not win on his own, [b] wins over the Clinton voter constituency, and [c] can placate traditional party leaders.

Barack Obama has never worn the uniform. Yet he has more rapport with the experience of the American veteran than the Republicans who are now in the process of relinquishing power to him and his allies.
Last week a mix of water and sanitation experts gathered for World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden to mull over the world's biggest public health crisis. The problem is that not enough people paid attention.
Fred Hutchins, Jr., an aide to Sen. Jim Webb -- and described as a "rising star" in Virginia Democratic politics -- was found shot dead on Tuesday be...
Putting Obama at the center of a team of rivals, all of them familiar, even venerable, pieces of political furniture would dampen the he's-not-one-of-us factor that is still his greatest danger.
I see Republicans turning up on Veterans Day with their flowery pronouncements of how much we Vets mean to them when they prove at every turn that they really don't give a damn about the troops.
Before I served in Iraq, I worked on Wall Street. We used to talk about ROI -- "return on investment." By any standard, the GI Bill was a good buy.
If Britney or Paris were to claim they were virgins, the media and public would go into apoplexy, but McCain can be equally dishonest about important policy issues, and virtually nobody says a word.
The simple facts is that the individual Confederate soldier -- from the lowest economic rung and in many cases disenfranchised as the slaves were -- fought for a variety of reasons.
It is a promise we made to the veterans of World War II: that those who defend our country should be able to take advantage of America's opportunity. This legislation again fulfills that promise.
In a major break with tradition, in a year when tradition counts for naught, he should show us the depth of the Democratic bench and show us the role that powerful women will play on his team.
When it comes to hypocritical "Support the Troops" rhetoric, I thought I'd seen it all. But this week, a small group of Democrats are using back door dealings to torpedo the new GI Bill.
The haters, the polluters, the war mongers and thieves can't be eliminated, but they can be limited.
Who is in your dream Administration, and what role would they play? I JUST finished tabulating the results you sent in as part of our new "What's Your Take" community feature.
This election gives Dems an opportunity to shift our national course that we may not have again for years. It would be a tragedy if we settled for the candidate most likely to shatter this momentum when it's barely begun.
"I really believe that in a time of danger around the world and in division here at home," Casey said, "Barack Obama can lead us, he can heal us, he can help rebuild America."

You just don't get it. Hillary supporters are turning a new page. We're gone and will make sure our votes count. McCain 08. It will be humorous seeing Obama try to pander to us. Obama and his mean supporters have done this to themselves. Even Hillary can't change the math for him.
Very funny post, Chris. And I don't smile often. Good job.
That's possibly the best thing I've read on HuffPost, with apologies to Bill Maher whose blogs I haven't seen much of here ... Eva Peron is a beautiful idea, the state-sponsored economic shock therapy and junta-forming magic combined with Obama being from the Chicago School (or at least being near a school in Chicago) is truly a winning combination.
Eva Peron would insulate Obama from being soft on terror. It would be easy for that ticket to play the terror by association card as Argentina was a neighbor during the original 9-11 of Chile in 1973 when Pinochet (with the help of the CIA and ITT) terrorized the country while Milton Friedman's Chicago School of economists busily worked on the a bible or brick of economic shock therapy to be put in place to privatize and plunder Chile. It's not really that different a worldview than Blackwater, so America should be ready for it.
very funny
the column and the posts
but go back to school,
where are we headed; what will probably happen; what is the worst that could happen???
you are all missing the obvious best pick
fortunately Obama is smarter than all of you and probably has him near the top of the list
you know, all of the speculating is moot, because Obama must have good chemistry with his vp and only he can evaluate that
and there is one issue where this candidate could be an achilles heel or a gift from god depending on whether he's strong enough to embrace the obvious
enough clues for now
(oh, it's not one of the Manning Brothers)
Co-Vice Presidents! Katie Couric and John Edwards. The three of them will look like the local news/weather/sports crew and they'll sweep all before them.
