Obama and His Field Force: How California Roared
There's a good chance that the role California played in Obama's victory will go unnoticed. However, the California team actually pulled off what can only be called a field operation coup.

Obama is the American President, but he is, in many respects, also the world's President. What he does will matter to young and old across the globe. The world, like America, is waiting for him to lead.
Obama shouldn't make the mistake that Bill Clinton did and install a drug czar who will ignore science and push dogma.
We had a hard time believing that what we were seeing was real. Yet there it was. The crown prince of Camelot was dead.
Everywhere I look I see tattoos. Plain brown-wrapped bodies seem to be soooo 20th century. 40% of Americans aged 18-40 have at least one permanent tattoo.
One of the stellar accomplishments of the Obama campaign's Jewish outreach team was its ability to prevent the candidate from taking stands on specific Israeli-Palestinian issues.
Obama's peace train is on tracks that have led to the same place since Eisenhower first told America to beware the military-industrial complex.
One out of ten times, someone is going to walk into the Oval Office and say, "I'm sorry Mr. President, our intelligence didn't pan out -- we accidentally hit a wedding. Ten civilians killed."
The financial crisis is a good, albeit painful, reminder that the stocks, bonds, gold, silver have no intrinsic value. We act as if they do, because it gives us some sense of an orderly world.
At some point, maybe science had something to do with it, maybe folks just came to their senses, there was a liberating change. The "handedness" issue became irrelevant.
I'm not ready to return to the same non-adrenaline-rush grassroots work that propelled Obama and the Dems to such a decisive victory.
We're seeing an amazing act of willful ignorance here. The predicament that Detroit has found itself in is an American business tragedy. Let's not make it worse by lying to ourselves.
I do not blame the cynics in college sports. They caught the virus from the rest of American culture. Americans these days permit and, indeed, encourage cynicism to pervade their lives.
Pritzker did Obama, herself, and probably the thousands of other bilked homeowners who still blame her family bank for their misery, a favor by bowing out of Commerce. That is if indeed she did bow out.
We have been rudderless for some time, and it shows. The call to public service is now more urgent than at any time in our nation's history.

Sure they're in love. That's nice. No other President-elect has ever been in love with his wife. None. Especially the Republicans.
Love is simple: Its sharing common values. The Obamas share the same values which include extreme arrogance and ambition, the ability to manipulate with words and appearance, success at positioning yourself as someone who has done things when actually you've done little (do-nothing senator and community organizer on one hand; VP Diversity and Community Outreach -- wow!!!! productive stuff!!! -- on the other. These guys share a common laugh at all the KoolAid drinkers who they lead like Pied Pipers to a future of Big Daddy Government doing everything for you. They are in love and poetically drunk with incredulity that the con has lasted even this long.
Love your articles and pics, keep 'em coming! The Obama's marriage and family life is the best example we could hope for, on so many levels. Thank you for continuing to focus on them in this way, it is a great contribution to the evolution of Ameican society.
that last one got me.
This is just an incredible family. The love is so real, I did not know such love still existed. Hey, forgive me I have been a victim of gold diggers. Seriously though, theirs is something to treasure...
me too, that eyes tell us how much she cares about her husband...
Late forties is too old to be contemplating babies because of the genetic risks to the child, but oh, my joy would be complete if we could have had an Obama baby born in the White House that would have been the product of such love---and the joy of the country and the world! Luckily, we have two happy, healthy little girls to enjoy. Malia is so like her Dad. I think we'll be seeing her grow into a great beauty. Sasha is the one who'd ride a pony up the White House staircase if she had one. That little darling will not be boring no matter where she lives. I don't expect that the White House will slow her down at all! Michelle will be a busy Mom as she works to keep life as natural as possible for the girls and to allow their free expressions without letting the publicity make them self conscious. I'm glad she'll have her Mom to help because I'm also sure that there will be many things to wants to work for as First Lady. We really hit it out of the ballpark with this paid.
