Republicans are seeking to suppress the voter turnout among youth, minorities and poor people. If Republicans can prevent enough Democrats from casting ballots, McCain could win the election.

John Murtha is in a political dogfight, with wingnuts pouring in money and resources to support a candidate who doesn't even know the district Murtha has represented for 34 years.

The crowd always has the power - the power to not give the comedian the laugh. If you want people to elect you leader, it's best to avoid putting yourself in a position of having less power.

One function of a free press in a self-governing society is to tell the truth, which is why those who embrace a strategy of political lying make a concerted effort to denigrate the credibility of the press.

Dr. Philip Butler spent eight years at the Hanoi Hilton, nearly six of them with John McCain. What does he think about the POW experience as preparation for the White House?

In a week in which Democrats and the national media are focused on the Convention and the surrounding protests/parties/circus, it's worth keeping one eye on what's happening on local television in the swing states.

Obama is refuting charges against him in an effort not to repeat the mistake of the Kerry campaign -- but this just substitutes a new mistake for the old one.

Corsi's success represents the apotheosis of a long, strange trip from the farther shores of the right into the national spotlight.

In just a few years Pickens has moved from being a totally partisan political animal to a man who is looking for the partial truth in the disparate views of a variety of people.

His next written effort, Corsi notes, involves hatchet jobs on all six of the most prominent Democratic vice presidential candidates, "just to be ready."

Let's review some of what we know about Corsi: he cavorts with white supremacists, he is a known plagiarist (according to a conservative!), and he is a 9/11 conspiracy theorist.

Obama Nation is the latest offering by Jerome R. Corsi, the infamous quasi-journalist who caused irrevocable damage to Kerry's 2004 campaign with his widely-discredited Unfit for Command.

Corsi's biggest claim to fame is co-authoring the infamous Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Judging from the shrill and paranoid tone of his latest effort I get the impression Obama has really scared these guys this time.

By running to the middle in an attempt to attract undecided swing voters, the Obama campaign is making a very serious mistake. It didn't work for Al Gore in 2000. It didn't work for John Kerry in 2004. And it didn't work when Mark Penn convinced Hillary Clinton to do it in 2008. Barack Obama has gone back on his word, Barack Obama is a hypocrite ... I couldn't be happier. Truth is, if what's necessary to win in November is some outright cheating, I'd be all for that, too.

The only modern way to combat this powerful, entrenched, well-financed conservative cabal is to create public outrage. After sleeping through the bloodless coup the 2000 elections turned out to be, Americans have tuned into the battle between Hillary and Barack that kept us listening, talking and taking sides. Obama must re-ignite that excitement by engaging McCain in the most democratic of forums.
