Last week a mix of water and sanitation experts gathered for World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden to mull over the world's biggest public health crisis. The problem is that not enough people paid attention.

If you thought the Republican primary field was a bit of a joke, wait until you get a closer look at the front runners for the vice presidential slot.

"I think a lot of people assume that might be some sort of military thing to make me look more Commander-in-Chief-like. Ironically, this is an area--foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more."
Arianna Huffington, 10.03.2008
After watching the debate, I am convinced that if the country somehow has a collective mental meltdown and elects Sarah Palin, she will be even more dangerous than Cheney.

Candidate Obama praised Senator Obama's judgment, energy and commitment to change in announcing what he called "the dream ticket."

We have had a virtual news blackout on what is going on in the two states we're waiting for -- Missouri's presidential results, and Alaska's senatorial results. Here is what I managed to find out.
Glenn Hurowitz, 09.02.2008
One of Palin's first acts in office was to put a $150 bounty on the heads of her state's wolves, allegedly with the goal of increasing the moose and caribou population.

Ludacris is repeating nothing that hasn't been said or acted out in a million different ways throughout history. These ideas are not a "a black, male thing."

I have to admit, that's a pretty provocative title. And enumerating the poultry before they emerge from the ova is always risky... as the saying goes.

I can't wait til America gets to know Jill Biden. As down to earth and serious about education as they come. She's a working mom like many others around the country.
Jackson Williams, 08.23.2008
Of all the presidential contenders lined up on the stage in last year's AFL-CIO Chicago debate, Biden was the only one who had voted for the 2005 bill.

Welcome to the penultimate Electoral Math column.
OK, I admit, I just like correctly using the word "penultimate." Plus, it's fun to say! Try it!

Why is this child up so late every time there is a camera op? Why isn't this baby sleeping in a crib or bassinet somewhere with a sleep sheep or some other sound apparatus lulling him into night-night?
Nora Ephron, 10.03.2008
CNN had a graph running along the bottom of the screen during the debate, allegedly representing the moment-by-moment feelings of a group of independent voters. This is no way to watch a debate.
Jonathan Spalter, 08.23.2008
By going around the news media and even bypassing its own massive email list, the Obama campaign is attempting to build a direct, personal, and immediate connection with voters.

Biden had a role, to give Obama's thin resume some creds. He will be relegated to state funerals and ceremonies from now on. They won't let him near a mic due to his verbosity and propensity to commit incredible gaffes. See you in 4 years Joe.
let's see...smart cabinet picks, smartly run campaign, smart person period, but yet he forgot to discuss with BIDEN, his 1st selection overall, what role he'd play in his admin!!??!! you're not serious right???
(so does my edited version make it past moderation this time??) ;o)
it's laughable that my Campbell Brown comparison in regards to this article would halt my previous post!!???!! (kinda free speech within your rules i would think) regardless, thanks for the edited post.
Anyone who thinks that GHWB just sat around waiting for world leaders to die, so he could pack up his black suit and umbrella is, I think, rather naive.
GHWB was the former long-term director of the CIA and still had those connections as well as his hand in other branches of the government. It's reasonable to believe that he played a role much more like
Bush's current VP does- but did it much more subtlely and competently.
Obama chose Biden mainly to shore up his weakness in international issues. I suspect that Biden will be a key advisor to Obama in that area, a connection to the Senate and key Senators who he worked with. I suspect his will be a very important, perhaps behind the scenes role. Yes, I suspect he will have to do the funeral rounds of certain active and past political leaders, especially those not of top allies, but that is part of the VP's job as any President already had a full table of issues to deal with.
The goofy, clumsy, weird Biden is going to find things mighty lonely out there away(Thank you, God !) from the only job he's ever had: US Senator. Think Dan Quayle II. Bu-Byeeee, Joe.
